Slovakia’s industrial production continued to contract in May 2026, but the pace of decline eased compared with the previous month, according to data updated on 9 July 2026. On a year-over-year basis, industrial output fell 2.0% in May, improving from a 3.2% drop recorded in April 2026.
The figures are based on annual comparisons, with the May reading measuring output against May of the previous year and the April figure compared with April a year earlier. While the sector remains in negative territory, the softer decline suggests that the worst of the recent industrial downturn may be passing, offering a tentative sign of stabilization for Slovakia’s manufacturing-heavy economy.
