South Korean Shares End Little Changed

The benchmark KOSPI slipped 0.04% to close at 6,715 on Thursday, finishing almost unchanged from the previous session as investors digested the Federal Reserve’s first interest rate hike in more than three years. The Fed raised its policy rate by 25 bps to a range of 3.75%–4.00% and indicated that another increase is possible later this year, capping further gains in the index despite the move being largely anticipated. Foreign investors also extended their net selling streak to a seventh consecutive session. Trading in individual names was mixed: Samsung Electronics (-0.20%), SK hynix (-0.85%), SK Square (-1.32%), and LG Energy Solution (-0.86%) declined, while KB Financial Group (+1.30%), Doosan Enerbility (+1.91%), and Hanwha Aerospace (+3.89%) advanced. On the commodities front, Brent crude fell nearly 3% to around $105 per barrel as concerns over potential oil supply disruptions subsided, helping to alleviate some pressure from elevated energy costs.
