Apple Reportedly Launching Mac Mini Models With M4 Chip: Bloomberg

Apple Inc. (AAPL) is on the cusp of introducing a thoroughly redesigned lineup of Mac mini models, powered by the latest M4 and M4 Pro chips, as revealed by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Numerous anonymous sources indicate that these new Mac minis will roll out alongside refreshed iMac and MacBook Pro models featuring the cutting-edge M4 chip technology.

According to Gurman, the forthcoming Mac mini will undergo its first significant design overhaul since 2010, representing a major evolution in Apple's compact desktop range. The new model is expected to be nearly the same size as an Apple TV but slightly taller than the current 1.4-inch height. Despite these dimension changes, it will retain the signature aluminum casing, keeping in line with Apple's design aesthetic.

The development team describes the new Mac mini as "essentially an iPad Pro in a small box," suggesting it will integrate some advanced features and capabilities seen in Apple's premium tablet. Reports suggest rigorous testing of various prototypes, with at least three USB-C ports likely on the back of the device, accompanied by a power cable slot and an HDMI port for connectivity.

The new Mac mini will debut in two versions: one with the standard M4 chip, akin to the iPad Pro, and another with the more powerful M4 Pro chip for users who demand higher performance for intensive tasks.

Gurman's sources indicate that the base model of the Mac mini is expected to start shipping from suppliers this month, setting the stage for a broader release later in the year. The high-end model with the M4 Pro chip is anticipated to be ready for launch by October.
