Danish Manufacturing Output Recovers in February

In February 2025, Denmark's manufacturing sector experienced a significant rebound, with production increasing by 5.1% month-on-month. This growth marks a recovery from the previous month's revised decline of 11.4%. The resurgence was primarily boosted by notable recoveries in the pharmaceutical sector, which rose by 11.8% following an 18.4% decrease in January. Similarly, the production of electronic components increased by 10.7%, up from a 15.3% fall, and the furniture and other manufacturing sectors improved by 4.5% compared to a 23.2% slump previously. The contraction in the production of chemicals and oil refineries slowed to -0.8%, relative to a -3.2% decrease in the prior month. However, there was a decline in the output of textiles and leather products, which dropped by 11.7% after a 21.6% increase, as well as in machinery, which marginally decreased by 0.1% compared to a prior rise of 7.4%. Production in the food, beverages, and tobacco sector also declined by 1.2%, following a 5.4% increase earlier. When assessed on a non-seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing output decreased by 6.4% in February, after an upwardly revised decline of 8.1% in January.
