Latvia Inflation Rate Slows to 3.3%

In March 2025, Latvia experienced a moderation in its annual inflation rate, which decreased to 3.3% from February's 18-month peak of 3.7%. This deceleration was largely attributed to decreased inflation in the housing and utilities sector, which dropped to 1.2% from February's 1.5%, and in the category of furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance, which fell to 1.8% from 2.4%. Meanwhile, transport expenses saw a notable reduction of 2.1% after remaining stable the month before. Conversely, inflation rates increased for food and non-alcoholic beverages, rising to 6.4% from 5.7%, as well as for alcoholic drinks and tobacco products, which went up to 9.8% from 8.4%. On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices increased by 0.9%, marking the most significant rise since March 2024, following a 0.8% increase in February.
