In March 2025, Romania experienced a significant increase in its current account deficit, which expanded to EUR 2,998 million, up from EUR 1,601 million in the same month the previous year. The goods account experienced a greater shortfall, rising to EUR 2,815 million compared to EUR 2,393 million the previous year. Similarly, the surplus in the services account shrank to EUR 811 million from EUR 1,091 million. Furthermore, the secondary income balance transitioned from a surplus of EUR 491 million to a deficit of EUR 78 million. At the same time, the primary income deficit saw an increase, reaching EUR 916 million compared to EUR 790 million a year earlier.
