US 30-Year Mortgage Rate Eases for 3rd Consecutive Week

As of June 18th, the average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage backed by Freddie Mac decreased by 3 basis points from the prior week, settling at 6.81%. This marks a further decline from the highest level reached nearly four months ago. "Mortgage rates have decreased, with the average 30-year fixed rate hitting a four-week low. The combination of increased housing inventory and this week's dip in mortgage rates may encourage potential homebuyers to enter the market," noted Sam Khater, Chief Economist at Freddie Mac.
