In May 2025, Georgia experienced a reduction in its trade deficit, which declined to USD 762.1 million from USD 912.5 million in the same month the previous year. This represented the narrowest trade deficit since March of 2024. Comparing year-over-year figures, exports increased by 15.7%, reaching USD 560.1 million, while imports decreased by 5.1%, totaling USD 1,342.2 million. However, during the first four months of 2025, the country saw an expansion in its trade deficit, which grew to USD 4,601.6 million from USD 4,113.4 million during the same period the year before, as exports rose by 14.6% and imports increased by 12.8%.
