In April 2025, Slovakia experienced a significant widening of its current account deficit, which reached EUR 458.9 million, compared to EUR 107.9 million during the same month of the previous year. This shift was largely due to the goods account moving into a deficit of EUR 160.6 million from a surplus of EUR 119.4 million observed in April 2024. Furthermore, the surplus in the services account decreased to EUR 39.9 million from the previous year's figure of EUR 61.4 million. In addition, the primary income deficit saw an increase, rising to EUR 274.3 million in April 2025 from EUR 264.5 million the year prior. Similarly, the secondary income shortfall expanded to EUR 63.9 million, up from EUR 24.2 million.
