Swedish Producer Prices Fall for 6th Month

Producer prices in Sweden experienced a year-on-year decline of 0.7% in August 2025, following a 0.6% decrease in July. This represents the sixth month in a row of deflation, largely attributable to a more pronounced reduction in capital goods prices, which fell by 2.2% compared to a 0.2% decrease in July. This decline was slightly tempered by a moderated rise in consumer goods prices, which increased by 0.6%, following a 2.0% increase in the prior month. Meanwhile, prices for energy-related products saw a recovery, increasing by 10.9% after a 0.8% decline. When excluding energy-related products, producer prices dropped by 2.2% year-on-year, a sharper fall than the 0.6% drop seen in July. On a monthly basis, the Producer Price Index (PPI) increased by 0.5% in August, marking the second consecutive month of gains, following a 1.1% rise in July.
