On Thursday, U.S. equity futures remained largely unchanged following a 0.3% drop experienced by the three major indices the day before. Investors treaded carefully, awaiting new developments to clarify whether the Federal Reserve might implement another interest rate cut in the coming month. The agenda for the day included numerous data releases, such as jobless claims and durable goods orders, in addition to speeches from several Federal Reserve officials. In corporate developments, Intel saw a nearly 4% increase in premarket trading after reports from Bloomberg indicated that the chipmaker was in talks with Apple regarding a potential investment. Apple shares also experienced a slight uptick of 0.4% prior to market opening. Lithium Americas surged by 13% following speculation that the U.S. government might acquire up to a 10% interest in the firm. On the downside, Oracle dropped over 2% after announcing the issuance of $18 billion in investment-grade bonds to support its AI expansion efforts. Mixed results were observed among tech giants: Nvidia, Meta, Broadcom, and Alphabet all experienced declines, with percentages of -0.6%, -0.6%, -0.3%, and -1.2%, respectively, whereas Microsoft remained stable and Amazon saw a modest increase of 0.3%.
