Sensex Falls for 5th Day

On Thursday, India's BSE Sensex concluded the session with a decline of approximately 0.6%, settling at 81,160, marking its lowest level since September 9. This drop represented the fifth consecutive session of declines. The market's mood remained negatively affected by several factors: increased H-1B visa fees, which pose a potential challenge to Indian IT sector earnings; uncertainties surrounding US-India trade negotiations; and the continued withdrawal of foreign funds. In terms of stock performance, Trent, Power Grid, Tata Motors, TCS, Asian Paints, NTPC, Adani Ports, and Bajaj Finance saw the steepest declines. Conversely, there were gains, albeit limited, observed in Bharat Electronics, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, and HDFC Bank.
