In September 2025, Slovakia experienced a slight increase in its annual inflation rate, rising to 4.3% compared to 4.2% the preceding month, and coming in just under market predictions of 4.4%. This uptick was largely attributed to rising costs in several prominent areas: transportation saw an increase to 4.2% from August's 2.1%, miscellaneous goods and services climbed to 6.6% from 6.0%, recreation and culture increased to 5.0% from 4.6%, communication up to 4.8% from 4.4%, and furnishings alongside household equipment and routine maintenance up to 3.3% from 3.1%. Conversely, there was a slowdown in price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages, which fell to 3.6% from 3.9%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco dropped to 5.5% from 6.1%, clothing and footwear decreased to 3.3% from 3.6%, and housing and utilities slid to 2.5% from 2.7%. The education sector also saw a reduction, with an inflation rate of 9.8% down from 10%. Interestingly, costs for restaurants and hotels remained stable at 9.3%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices saw a rise of 0.2% in September, aligning with market expectations and slightly surpassing the 0.1% increase recorded in August.
