Sweden’s Manufacturing PMI Edges Higher in January, Signaling Steady Expansion

Sweden’s manufacturing sector showed a modest improvement at the start of the year, with the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rising to 56.0 in January 2026, up from 55.4 in December 2025. The latest reading, updated on 2 February 2026, keeps the index comfortably above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction, indicating continued growth in industrial activity.

The incremental increase suggests that Swedish manufacturers are maintaining momentum, with conditions in the sector improving slightly month-on-month. While the gain from December is not dramatic, the sustained level above 55 points points to a broadly supportive environment for production, orders and employment within Sweden’s manufacturing industry as 2026 gets under way.
