Czech Manufacturing PMI Slips Below Growth Threshold in January 2026

The Czech Republic’s manufacturing sector lost momentum at the start of 2026, as the S&P Global Czech Republic Manufacturing PMI edged back below the key 50-point threshold in January. The index eased to 49.8, down from 50.4 in December 2025, signaling a marginal return to contractionary conditions in the country’s factory activity.

The latest reading, published on 2 February 2026, reverses December’s slight expansion and suggests that demand and production conditions remain fragile. While the move is modest, dipping below 50 indicates that overall operating conditions in Czech manufacturing deteriorated compared with the previous month.

The January figure will be closely watched by markets and policymakers, as it may hint at lingering headwinds for the industrial sector following the tentative improvement seen at the end of 2025.
