Speculators Trim Bullish Bets on Mexican Peso as CFTC Net Longs Decline

Speculative positioning in the Mexican peso has cooled, with the latest data from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) showing a notable reduction in net long positions. As of 06 February 2026, MXN speculative net positions stood at 90.6K, down from a previous level of 103.1K.

The decline suggests that traders are moderating their bullish stance on the peso after a period of stronger optimism. While net positions remain in positive territory, indicating an overall long bias, the pullback may reflect increased caution among market participants in response to shifting global or domestic conditions affecting Mexico’s currency.
