Business investment growth in the United Kingdom slowed in the fourth quarter of 2025, with the year-over-year rate easing to 2.0%, down from 2.5% in the previous quarter. The latest figures, updated on 12 February 2026, indicate a moderation in the pace of capital spending by UK businesses as the year drew to a close.
The comparison is made on a year-over-year basis, meaning the current 2.0% reading reflects the change in investment in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the same period a year earlier. Similarly, the earlier 2.5% figure for the third quarter of 2025 represented the annual change versus the third quarter of the previous year.
While business investment continued to grow, the deceleration from Q3 to Q4 suggests a slightly more cautious stance from firms heading into 2026, as reflected in the modest softening of the annual growth rate over consecutive quarters.
