FX.co ★ Luxembourg Unemployment Hits Highest Since 2021

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Luxembourg inched up to 6.3% in January 2026, after holding at 6.2% in each of the previous two months. This is the highest level recorded since February 2021. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 167 from the previous month, reaching a record 21,255.

At the same time, total employment continued to grow, rising by 834 to 300,157. The active labor force among Luxembourg nationals expanded by 1,001, bringing it to 321,412.

Regarding cross-border employment, the number of Luxembourg residents commuting to jobs abroad was unchanged at 14,046, while the number of incoming cross-border workers rose sharply by 1,775 to 232,230.
