Sweden’s January CPI Inflation Edges Up to 0.5% Year-on-Year

Sweden’s consumer price inflation picked up modestly at the start of the year, with the January 2026 Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 0.5% year-on-year, up from 0.3% previously. The latest figures, updated on 20 February 2026, indicate a slight acceleration in price growth when compared to the same month a year earlier.

Both the current and previous readings are based on year-over-year comparisons: the January 2026 figure measures the change in prices from January 2025, while the earlier 0.3% reading reflects how the previous month’s prices compared with the same month a year before. The move from 0.3% to 0.5% suggests that inflationary pressures, while still subdued, have strengthened slightly as the new year begins.
