European equities retreated on Thursday, with the STOXX 50 down 0.6% and the STOXX 600 off 0.3%, following gains of more than 1% in the previous session. Initial relief in the market faded as worries about a potential escalation of the conflict with Iran, now in its sixth day, resurfaced. Both Tehran and Washington indicated that hostilities could intensify in the coming days, driving oil and natural gas prices higher. Financials led the decline, followed by healthcare. Among the notable losers were LVMH (-1.4%), Roche (-0.9%), Novartis (-0.6%), Siemens (-1.0%), Banco Santander (-1.7%), and UniCredit (-1.6%).
