Speculative traders in U.S. natural gas futures modestly reduced their net short exposure, according to the latest data on CFTC Natural Gas speculative net positions released on 27 March 2026.
Net positions improved to -172.6K contracts, up from the previous -178.0K. While the overall stance remains net short, the smaller negative figure indicates that bearish positioning among speculators has eased slightly since the last reading. This shift suggests some unwinding of pessimistic bets, though speculative sentiment toward U.S. natural gas remains cautious.
