Sensex Closes Lower, Still Posts Weekly Gain

India’s BSE Sensex fell about 0.8% to close at 76,803 on Friday, snapping a five-session winning streak, as weakness in technology stocks weighed on the market following Accenture’s cut to its revenue growth guidance. Sentiment was further dampened by continued foreign fund outflows, renewed geopolitical uncertainties, and expectations that US interest rates may remain higher for longer.

Among major tech names, Infosys slumped over 6%, Tata Consultancy Services declined 3.5%, HCL Tech lost 2.7%, and Tech Mahindra dropped 2.5%. Financials and autos also came under pressure, with HDFC Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra slipping 2.3% and 2.1%, respectively.

On the positive side, key gainers included Eternal, up 2.2%, Bharti Airtel, which rose 1.8%, Power Grid, up 1.3%, and NTPC, which added 1%. Despite Friday’s pullback, the Sensex still advanced 1.7% for the week.
