Slovenia Trade Deficit Shrinks in June

Slovenia’s trade deficit narrowed sharply to EUR 217.3 million in June 2026 from EUR 1,411.4 million a year earlier, as export growth outpaced imports. Imports declined 4.2% year-on-year to EUR 6,546.3 million, driven by a 12.3% drop in purchases from non-EU countries, while imports from EU member states rose 8.2%. At the same time, exports increased 17% to EUR 6,329.1 million, supported by stronger shipments to both non-EU markets (up 21.6%) and EU countries (up 12.3%).

Despite the notable improvement in June, Slovenia’s trade deficit widened to EUR 4,119.9 million in the first half of 2026, as exports fell 9.1% compared with the same period in 2025, while imports grew 5.3%.
