South Africa Building Permits Rise Less in July

In July 2026, the value of building plans approved in South Africa increased by 4.1% year-on-year to approximately ZAR 9.34 billion, following a sharply upwardly revised 34.3% surge in June. Approvals rose further for residential buildings (12.2% vs 8% in June), but declined for non-residential buildings (-5.5% vs 154.2%) and for additions and alterations (-0.6% vs 10.8%).
