Airbus cuts aircraft manufacturing in 2020

In its latest corporate report released on January 8, 2021, Airbus SE announced that it delivered 566 aircraft in 2020. This is 34% down from the number of aircraft supplied in 2019.

Last year, Airbus SE sold 566 commercial aircraft to 87 customers. Importantly, the space corporation was manufacturing passenger planes according to the production adaptation plan introduced in April 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. By the end of 2020, the company fulfilled 89 orders delivered to customers in December alone. Experts say Airbus produced the record high number of aircraft per month that surpassed 39% the level of November 2019.

Nevertheless, the European aerospace corporation had to adjust its capacities for international travel restrictions. Airbus registered orders for 268 commercial planes, three times as low as the levels of 2019 when the aerospace giant recorded 768 orders.

In 2019, Airbus SE was acknowledged to be the world’s largest airliner manufacturer which designs and sells civil and military aircraft. The corporation consists of three divisions. Airbus SAS focuses on passenger airliners. Airbus Defense and Space manufactures space ships. The third division is Airbus Helicopters.
