Italy Producer Prices Fall Further

Italy's producer prices have been seen to decrease significantly in February, according to information provided by the ISTAT, Italy's national statistical institute. The annual decrease amounted to 10.8 percent, following a 10.7 percent fall in January. It's worth noting that the country has been experiencing a continuous decline in producer prices since April 2023.

The substantial decrease in February is primarily attributed to lower costs of chemical products, metals, metal products, and industries related to wood, paper, and printing. In terms of market segmentation, domestic market prices saw a steep 14.2 percent decrease, while the foreign market showed a relatively lesser decrease of 1.3 percent.

Furthermore, there was a 1.0 percent fall in producer prices on a month-to-month basis, succeeding a 1.7 percent decline reported in the preceding month. Consequently, this marks the fourth straight month of such monthly falls.
