DAX Edges Higher In Cautious Trade After Comments From ECB Officials

German stocks posted modest gains on Monday, as investors responded positively to stimulus measures from China aimed at bolstering the property sector, while also considering the future direction of interest rates.

The DAX benchmark index rose by 52 points, or 0.3%, reaching 18,757, after a slight dip of 0.2% in the previous session on Friday.

In an interview with Bloomberg Adria, ECB Governing Council member Martins Kazaks suggested that June might be an appropriate time to begin reducing borrowing costs. However, he stressed that any rate cuts would be heavily influenced by forthcoming data and should proceed "cautiously" and "gradually," avoiding any rushed decisions.

Additionally, ECB executive board member Isabel Schnabel advised against consecutive interest rate cuts in June and July. Speaking to the Nikkei newspaper, she remarked, "Given the current data, a rate cut in July does not seem justified as there is a risk of premature easing."
