North Macedonia Inflation Continued to Ease

In April 2025, North Macedonia experienced a slight decrease in its annual inflation rate, which dropped to 2.6% from the previous month's 2.7%. This easing of inflation was largely attributed to moderated price increases across various sectors, such as miscellaneous goods and services, which fell to 2.7% from 3.8% in March, and the restaurant and hotel industry, where the rate decreased to 11.4% from 12%. Similarly, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a smaller increase, moving down to 1.5% from 2.1%. These positive trends were somewhat counterbalanced by a rise in inflation in areas like home furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance, which climbed to 4.4% from 3.3%, as well as recreation and culture, which increased to 6.8% from 6%. Furthermore, the decline in transport prices decelerated, recording a lesser decrease of 1.7% compared to the previous -3.8%. On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.6%, recovering from a 1.3% decline in the preceding month.
