North Macedonia Trade Deficit Narrows in March

In March 2025, North Macedonia saw its trade deficit reduce to $258 million, down from $294.1 million in March of the previous year. Export activities faced a 3.8% decline compared to the prior year, totaling $754.4 million, while imports decreased by 6.2% to reach $1,012.4 million. Over the first quarter of the year, from January to March, the trade deficit amounted to $885.9 million. Exports experienced a 3% drop from the previous year, reaching $2,031.1 million, primarily due to diminished sales in chemicals and related products not elsewhere specified (down 16%), manufactured goods chiefly categorized by material (down 5.4%), and various manufactured articles (down 8.6%). Concurrently, imports saw a 1.8% decrease to $2,916.9 million, with the primary reductions seen in crude materials, excluding fuels (down 16.4%), machinery and transport equipment (down 8.3%), and various manufactured articles (down 8.7%).
