Philippines Jobless Rate Steady at 3.9%

In March 2025, the unemployment rate in the Philippines remained steady at 3.9%, mirroring the figure from the same month the previous year. The total number of unemployed individuals reduced slightly to 1.93 million, down from 2 million in March 2024. However, the employed population contracted to 48 million, compared to 49.2 million previously. Among the key industry sectors, the services sector continued to lead in employment, representing 62% of the workforce. This was followed by agriculture, which constituted 20.1%, and industry, making up 17.9%. Additionally, the labor force participation rate experienced a decline to 62.9%, down from 65.3% the year before. On average, those employed worked 41.2 hours per week, an increase from the 40.7 hours reported in March 2024.
