In June 2025, the S&P Global Flash Australia Services PMI Business Activity Index increased to 51.3 from 50.6 in May, reaching its highest point in three months. This improvement was principally fueled by a rise in new business activity, which subsequently supported job growth and contributed to a quicker decrease in work backlog. On the inflation front, there was a slight alleviation of pricing pressures, with input costs escalating at a more tempered rate. Looking forward, service providers expressed increased optimism, citing expectations that upcoming product launches and business development initiatives will bolster future sales. Jingyi Pan, Economics Associate Director at S&P Global Market Intelligence, stated: “The initial S&P Global Flash Australia PMI figures for June indicate a quickened pace in business activity growth, spurred not only by accelerated expansion in the services sector but also by a renewed upturn in manufacturing production. Indicators suggest that further growth in output is anticipated.”
