Swedish Jobless Rate Rises to 8.2%

In November 2025, Sweden witnessed a rise in its unemployment rate to 8.2%, up from 7.4% in the same month the previous year. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 52,400 compared to the previous year, bringing the total to 470,400. This figure includes 217,000 women and 253,000 men, with their respective unemployment rates at 8.0% and 8.4%. The unemployment rate among the youth, aged 15 to 24, saw a substantial rise of 27,800, reaching 155,200, which translates to a 23.8% unemployment rate. Meanwhile, employment numbers improved, with an increase of 73,200, bringing the total to 5.275 million. Consequently, the employment rate rose by 0.7 percentage points to 69%, while the labor force participation rate climbed by 1.4 percentage points to 75.2%. The average number of hours worked per week totaled 171.4 million. Adjusted for seasonal variations, the unemployment rate stood at 9%.
