Brunei Consumer Prices Inch Lower

In November 2025, Brunei's consumer prices saw a marginal decline of 0.1% year-on-year, reversing the previous month's 0.1% rise. This marks the eighth instance of decline within the year. Notable decreases were observed in communication costs, which continued to decrease by 0.2%, as in October, and more significantly in the sectors of recreation and culture, dropping by 1.1% compared to a 0.4% decrease in the prior month, and miscellaneous goods and services, maintaining their 1.0% decline. The clothing and footwear segment also registered a decrease of 2.0%, a notable shift from the 1.9% increase recorded in October. In terms of moderated price growth, transport and health sectors both experienced a slowdown, each growing by only 0.1%, down from 0.3% and 0.5%, respectively, in October. Inflation remained unchanged in key areas such as food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing and utilities, education, and restaurants and hotels, holding steady at 0.4%, 0.1%, 0.3%, and 0.2%, respectively. Concurrently, there was a slight increase in the cost of furnishings and household maintenance by 0.1%, following a previous decline of 0.4%. On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices recorded a minor uptick of 0.1%, contrasting with the 0.2% decline noted in October.
