UK House Price Balance Steadies in Dec

The RICS UK Residential Market Survey for December 2025 reveals that the house price balance remained steady at -14%, consistent with November's figure and showing slight improvement from a low of 19% in October. Although this indicates a modest overall decrease in national house prices, there are signs of stabilization. London and the South East regions continue to lag behind, reporting net balances of -42% and -32%, respectively, signifying sharper price declines compared to the national average. Conversely, Scotland and Northern Ireland are experiencing price increases. The outlook for the next three months has brightened, with expectations now largely stable, as reflected by the headline net balance improving to -6% from the previous -14%. Looking further into the future, a net balance of 35% of respondents anticipates a return to price growth over the next year, an increase from 16% in October and 24% in November.
