The Manufacturing Production Index from the Kansas City Fed persisted in its negative range, recording a value of -2 in January 2026, which shows a slight improvement from December’s figure of -3. This marks the second month in a row of declining manufacturing activity. Although expectations for future activity have softened, they continue to suggest growth. Meanwhile, the cost of raw materials rose again this month, whereas the increase in prices for finished products has slowed.
