Finnish Producer Prices Drop the Most in 5 Months

In December 2025, Finland experienced a 0.8% decrease in producer prices compared to the same month in the previous year, a notable shift from the 0.2% increase observed in the prior two months. This decline represents the lowest level since July, driven primarily by a further reduction in the prices of manufactured goods, which fell by 0.9% compared to a mere 0.1% drop in November. Notably, prices for paper and paper products dropped significantly by 8.4%, and chemical products experienced a decrease of 3.5%, down from 0.6%. Additionally, the costs for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning contracted by 2.2%, a marked reversal from the previous 5.7% increase.

Conversely, there was a price increase in sectors such as water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services, which saw a rise of 4.2%, up from 0.6% previously. Meanwhile, the rate of deflation in mining and quarrying showed signs of easing, with a reduction of 0.3% compared to 3.1% earlier. On a month-to-month basis, producer prices decreased by 1% in December, contrasting with the 0.3% rise seen in the prior month.
