In December 2025, private house approvals in Australia saw a marginal increase of 0.4% from the previous month, reaching a total of 9,487 units, as per preliminary data. This follows a slightly higher rise of 0.8% observed in November, yet still reflects a second consecutive month of growth, highlighting continued interest in detached housing. The majority of the major states experienced growth, with South Australia leading the way at 1.7%, followed by Western Australia at 1.5%, Queensland at 0.9%, and New South Wales at 0.3%. Victoria, however, saw a slight decrease of 0.9%. Annually, private house approvals grew by 5.7%, maintaining an upward trajectory from the 3.0% increase noted in November. This indicates a positive year-on-year trend, albeit with some signs of deceleration in growth momentum.
