Brazil Private Sector Loses Momentum in January

In January 2026, the S&P Global Brazil Composite PMI decreased to 49.9 from 52.1 in December, indicating a near standstill in private-sector activity as the year began. Although the output in services still grew, the rate of growth slowed significantly, unable to counteract the more pronounced decline in manufacturing production. New orders saw a slight decrease, and employment fell for the first time in three months, registering modest job reductions in both the services and industrial sectors. Concurrently, both input costs and output prices increased at the quickest rate in two months.
