FX.co ★ Hungary Construction Output Recovers in December

Hungary’s construction output rose by 8.9% year-on-year in December 2025, rebounding from a downwardly revised 4.1% decline in November. Civil engineering works increased by 10.5%, recovering from an 18.9% drop in the previous month, largely driven by a 53.8% surge in road and railway construction. Building construction grew at a slightly slower pace, up 8.4% compared with 10.4% previously. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output expanded by 6.7% in December, after a 7.3% decrease in the prior period. Over the whole of 2025, total construction output increased by 2.8% compared with the previous year, with building construction up 5.5%, while civil engineering activity declined by 0.9%.
