Romania’s GDP expanded by 0.1% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2025, a sharp slowdown from the 1.7% increase recorded in the previous three-month period, according to preliminary estimates. Although this marked the nineteenth consecutive quarter of economic growth, it was the weakest expansion since the third quarter of 2021. On a seasonally adjusted quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP shrank by 1.9%, deepening from the 0.2% contraction seen in the preceding quarter.
