The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which measures freight rates for ships transporting dry commodities, rose about 0.8% on Monday to 2,100 points, its highest level since February 2nd, supported by gains across all vessel segments. The capesize index, reflecting rates for vessels typically carrying 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, climbed 0.9% to 3,209 points. The panamax index, which covers ships that usually transport 60,000–70,000 tons of coal or grain, advanced 0.5% to 1,785 points. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index increased 1% to 1,198 points.
