Thailand’s private consumption recorded a strong turnaround in December 2025, rising 2.5% month-over-month after contracting 0.3% in November, according to data updated on 30 January 2026.

The shift from negative to solid positive growth suggests a notable improvement in household spending momentum at the end of the year. The November reading of -0.3% had reflected a slowdown compared with the previous month, but December’s 2.5% increase indicates that consumer activity regained traction heading into 2026.

On a month-over-month basis, the latest figure shows that actual consumption in December was markedly stronger than in November, when the indicator declined versus the month before. The data point to a recovery in domestic demand that could provide support to Thailand’s broader economic performance if the trend continues.
