France’s non-farm payrolls edged down by 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2025, a slight deterioration from the flat reading of 0.0% recorded in the previous quarter. The latest data, updated on 30 January 2026, marks a modest quarter-over-quarter decline in employment after a period of stagnation.

In the third quarter of 2025, non-farm payrolls showed no change compared with the previous quarter, indicating a pause in job growth momentum. The move into negative territory in the fourth quarter suggests that labour market conditions softened marginally at the end of the year.

On a quarter-over-quarter basis, the “actual” figure for Q4 2025 is measured against Q3 2025, while the “previous” figure for Q3 2025 is measured against the second quarter. This shift from 0.0% to -0.1% underlines a small but notable weakening in France’s non-farm employment trend heading into 2026.
