Germany’s consumer price index (CPI) inched up by 0.1% month-over-month in January 2026, according to data updated on 30 January 2026. This marks a slight acceleration from December 2025, when prices were unchanged on a monthly basis at 0.0%.

The January reading indicates that price pressures have picked up modestly at the start of the year, following a flat month in December. On a month-over-month basis, the “actual” figure compares January’s change in prices to December, while the “previous” figure reflected December’s movement relative to November. The shift from 0.0% to 0.1% suggests that, although inflation remains subdued, underlying price dynamics in Europe’s largest economy are no longer entirely stagnant as the new year begins.
