Brazil’s IPC-Fipe Inflation Eases to 0.21% in January, Slowing from December’s 0.32%

Brazil’s consumer inflation, as measured by the IPC-Fipe index, cooled in January 2026, registering a month-over-month rise of 0.21%. The reading marks a deceleration from December 2025, when the indicator had increased by 0.32% compared with November, according to data updated on 3 February 2026.

The January figure signals a moderation in short-term price pressures at the start of 2026, as the pace of monthly inflation slowed compared with the previous period. On a month-over-month basis, the “Actual” comparison reflects January’s change against December, while the “Previous” comparison captures December’s movement versus November, highlighting the downshift in momentum as the new year began.
