FX.co ★ Hungary Trade Surplus Shrinks in January

Hungary’s trade surplus narrowed sharply to EUR 12 million in January 2026, down from EUR 768 million in the same month a year earlier and well below market expectations of EUR 333 million. This was the country’s eighteenth consecutive monthly trade surplus, but also the smallest in that period, as exports declined and imports rose. Exports fell 4.5% year-on-year to EUR 11,468 million in January, while imports increased 2.0% to EUR 11,455 million.
