Kazakhstan Inflation Rate Eases to 9-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in Kazakhstan slowed to 11.7% in February 2026 from 12.2% in January, reaching its lowest level since May 2025. Price growth eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.2% vs 5.4% in January), housing and utilities (0.7% vs 0.8%), transport (1% vs 1.1%), and restaurants and hotels (0.2% vs 0.3%). At the same time, prices were unchanged for clothing and footwear (1%), household goods, appliances, and routine home maintenance (0.5%), healthcare (0.9%), recreation and culture (0.5%), and education (0.2%). In contrast, prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco inched up (0.2% vs 0.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.1% in February, slightly above the 1% increase recorded in January.
