Retail sales in Vietnam increased 8.5% year-on-year in February 2026, easing from a 9.3% rise in January and marking the slowest pace of growth since November 2025. Sales of goods, which make up 76.4% of total retail turnover, grew 8.8%, down from 9.3% in the previous month. Growth also cooled in travel and tourism (13.8% vs. 14%) and in other services (4.4% vs. 8.9%). By contrast, accommodation and food services continued to strengthen, with activity up 9.7% compared to 9.4% in January. On a monthly basis, retail sales fell 1.5% in February, reversing a 2.6% increase in the prior period. Overall, retail sales in the first two months of the year were 7.9% higher than in the same period a year earlier.
