Venezuela’s Monthly Inflation Slows

Venezuela’s monthly inflation rate eased to 14.6% in February 2026, a sharp decline from 32.6% in January, according to data released by the country’s monetary authority, which had not published inflation figures since late 2024. Despite the monthly moderation, annual inflation accelerated to 617.9% in February, up from 594.8% in January, while prices rose 51.9% in the first two months of 2026. The delayed figures were released against a backdrop of major political upheaval, following the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by the United States in a January raid, which has since prompted negotiations between Washington and Caracas to restore diplomatic and consular relations.
