Greece Trade Deficit Narrows in January

Greece’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 2.80 billion in January 2026, slightly down from a revised EUR 2.83 billion in the same month a year earlier, despite simultaneous declines in both exports and imports. Exports fell by 11.9% year-on-year to EUR 3.6 billion, driven mainly by reduced sales to EU countries (-2.2%) and, more sharply, to non-EU (third) countries (-23.6%). Over the same period, imports decreased by 7.4% to EUR 6.4 billion, reflecting lower purchases from both the EU (-5.3%) and third countries (-9.5%).
